How We Powder Coat

We grit blast etch to create a clean surface to provide good adhesion.  We then apply a two pack zinc chromate etch primer.  This provides an extra barrier against corrosion.  The parts are preheated to 200°C  then architectural or qualicoat powder of the desired colour is applied and the parts are returned to the oven to bake to fully cure.

Powder coating facilities are 2 box ovens, 1.5m x 1.8m x 2.2m long and 1.7m x 2.0m x 5.0m long. We also have a continuous conveyor line for light items up to around 2m long and long batch lines for smaller parts and rapid colour changes.

Shot blasting

We have two shot blast booths; a 1 x 1 x 2M booth for small parts, i.e wheels, bike frames etc. and a 1.5 x 2 x 4.5M booth to grit blast old and new parts using GO7 grit to give a clean surface but also to a better key for painting.
